Generally, these articles start with a background of the builder, and the components that make his or her company stand out. In the case of Glen Mock Homes, we felt that something else had to be given the front seat. It’s rare that a home truly takes your breath away upon entrance. Quite often, you spy that appealing house from the curb but it just doesn’t quite carry the same impact once inside. Or, the floor plan looks great, but curb appeal just isn’t there. Not so with these homes. The outside makes you pull over; the inside makes you stay.
From the high ceilings, to easy flow of rooms, a Glen Mock home is a creation of your own imagination. From the outside, one can see many levels of distinction. The various elevations he offers on his homes keeps the areas where he builds from looking cookie-cutter. Because of these designs, his homes appear to have so much depth and character, that every angle is intriguing and beautiful.
Once the viewer steps inside, yet another treat awaits. Glen Mock’s signature floor plan is one that flows sensibly. It is intuitive to turn this way or that to reach a certain area, in fact, upon entry, one feels as if they are truly home. There are no confusing twists and turns; no stairways that lead into nothingness, just simplicity with elegance.
Like most of the top builders in the Kansas City area, Glen Mock uses only the best of sub-contractors. He keeps them by being loyal, paying them on time and keeping them busy. They keep him by delivering the quality that he demands in each and every home. Glen also shops price, however. He feels it is his responsibility to keep his homes affordable while still maintaining his standards.
Closer to home, he surrounds himself with people who believe in hard work and the attention to details that he expects from himself. His wife, Kris Mock is his CEO and office manager. Kris not only helps run the business, but also shares a home with Glen as his wife of 25 years. His Chief Superintendent, Chris Cooper has been with him for over seven years. Always portraying a positive attitude, Chris is a natural with homeowners and is in large part responsible for how easy the process seems to go. Gary Haught has been Glen’s General Manager for over five years. His friendly attitude, excellent relationship with sub-contractors makes him indispensable. He is the man of many hats and works very closely with Glen on each project; start to finish. Becky Dowel has spent the last eight years with Glen. Her dedication as the office accountant is evident in her work and accuracy. While these employees have been with him the longest, Glen does not discount the part that his other employees play in his company.
Mike Miller, his service manager, assists in many areas and has a great eye for detail. Tom Berger, another Superintendent is a highly skilled worker, both talented and dependable and great with all his customers. Sandra Hayes is one of his newest employees and is the secretary in accounts payable. Sandra says, “It is a pleasure to work for such an honorable and dedicated company.” It is the test of any organization to see how their own people truly feel about them.

Sitting down and talking with Glen Mock is a delight. He is easy-going and very unassuming in his conversation. Immediately, the impression he gives is that he can be trusted. Not only that, he is very approachable. A family man, he is the father of four boys and a very willing traveling partner of his wife, Kris. While he’s not a native of Kansas City, he’s about as close as they get and plans to make this community his home for life. Glen Mock is one of those rare builders who isn’t uncomfortable in any situation, making the new buyer relaxed about asking difficult questions. It’s interesting to see Glen’s reaction when his homes are praised. He is completely humble, he almost seems embarrassed that someone would be making a fuss about his product. He’d better get used to it! Glen is among those elite homebuilders here in the Kansas City area that others are going to be compared to.
Perhaps it’s because of his origins. He began his construction career as a framer; the person who builds the backbone of the home. From there, he began to see the need for visionaries with the ability to design homes. Since high school, it had been his desire to become an architect or designer and create memorable floor plans. The next phase in his career was to do just that; design unique and livable homes that people would someday dream of owning. The homes he builds literally come off of his drawing board.
The partnership that is Glen Mock Construction is more than just a name, it is comprised of team members ranging from designers, office staff and superintendents to service managers, finance administration, warranty service personnel and sub contractors, all who maintain the day to day operations of Glen Mock Construction.
"Building a home should be an enjoyable experience. It should be fun, and I find it to be fun. I've had a zeal and charisma about my personality that clients can tell that I am excited about doing this ... not that it is another number on the books. If my customers enjoy it, I can enjoy it more and vice-versa." - Glen Mock
